3 ways to pay with a phone and iCard:
iCard Pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay

Desislava Koleva 29 September, 2021

The global number of mobile payments is rapidly growing. The statistics show that 25.7% of all POS payments of 2020 were made using digital wallets. Payments with phone are one of the most convenient and secure ways to pay in stores, restaurants, public transport, and many other places around the world.

To make a mobile payment, hold your phone near the POS terminal. Mobile payments are another way to pay contactless with your physical and virtual cards issued by iCard. All users of iCard mobile app (plan Standard, Infinite or Metal) can make mobile payments.

Mobile payments are possible, thanks to the contactless NFC (Near Field Communication) chips which allow devices such as smartphones, POS terminals, contactless debit cards, NFC wearables, watches, etc. to exchange information.

Your favourite digital wallet allows you to make mobile payments in the app – with iCard Pay, and also by using other apps – Google Pay™ and Apple Pay. We want to give you the freedom to choose. But how can you decide what method to use to pay with a phone? See the advantages of each of the three options and learn how to make easy, fast, and secure mobile payments.

Tap and Pay

1. iCard Pay

iCard Pay is one of the most liked functions of the iCard digital wallet, which can be used by all customers with verified identity and NFC-enabled Android phones. With iCard Pay, you can pay in all stores over the world where contactless payments are accepted.

A key advantage of iCard Pay making it one of the most convenient ways to pay with phone is that you don’t have to add your cards to a different mobile app. All you have to do is to open the iCard app, choose “Tap & Pay” button, and hold your phone near the POS terminal. You will see a success symbol on the screen.

Additional cardholder authentication is required in order to pay with iCard Pay. Once you have logged in to the iCard mobile app, you need to choose iCard Pay (“Tap and Pay”). To pay with it, you must unlock the device with your default screen lock method – fingerprint, PIN code or pattern. Now just hold the phone near the POS terminal! Easy and convenient!

How to pay with iCard Pay:

Paying with iCard Pay takes only a few seconds:

1. Open the iCard mobile app;

2. Press “Tap&Pay” button in the top left and unlock the device with your default screen lock method;

3. Choose with which card you want to pay by swiping left or right;

4. Hold the phone near the POS terminal.

Well done! You just paid successfully with iCard Pay.

It’s even easier when you hold your device near the POS, unlock it and iCard Pay will be activated automatically. All you have to do is use your method to unlock the phone again and hold it near the POS one more time.

Google Pay and iCard

2. Google Pay

Google Pay is the fast, simple way to pay contactless and speed through checkout on sites and in apps. It helps you keep all your payment methods organized and protects your info with multiple layers of security.

Android smartphones (version Lollipop 5.0 or newer) are supporting Google Pay. To use this service, you have to download Google Pay app from Google Play Store (or to activate the service in the settings menu of your device). Then, you have to add your physical or virtual Visa card issued by iCard.

Paying online with Google Pay

Another advantage of Google Pay is “Buy with G Pay” button, which can be seen when making online payments on some websites and apps. When using this button, you can skip entering your card details and pay for your purchases with an already stored card. If Google Pay is your default payment method, the in-store transactions can be made without even entering the app. All you have to do is to unlock your phone and hold it near the POS terminal.

How to add a card to Google Pay?

What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them, whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another. Cookies are generated by the server of the visited website when the browser of your device loads it. The website sends information to the browser and creates a text file. Each time the user returns to the same website, the browser extracts this text file and sends it to the website’s server. The information that the cookie contains is specified by the server and may be used by the latter when the website is visited again by the user.
We use cookies to achieve different tasks such as like letting you navigate between pages efficiently and easily, remembering your preferences and generally improving your experience when browsing. We also use them to ensure that any ads you see on our websites or mobile apps and ads of other third-parties are more focused to you and your interests.
We also use similar technologies such as ‘pixel tags’ and ‘JavaScript’ to undertake these tasks. Pixel tags and JavaScript are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has our websites or mobile apps. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within our websites or mobile apps to another, to provide or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to our websites or mobile apps from via online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance.
If you visit our websites or mobile apps, we will deploy cookies and similar technologies to design an online service more suitable for your device, as well as to prevent and detect fraud. When you visit our website from any device we collect information about your use of the particular website, such as information about the device or browser you use to access the site (including device type, operating system, screen resolution, etc.), the way you interact with this site, and the IP address your device connects from. In many cases, the above said technologies are relying on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning, which means that you may not be able to exercise some activities within our secure online services unless these cookies or similar technologies are installed. Additionally, there might be a chance that we may not be able to process certain transactions if you are physically located in certain countries.
Cookies set by us are referred to as "first party cookies". Cookies deployed by parties other than us are called "third-party cookies". Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be displayed on or through the website/app. The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.
We may not influence or control over third-party cookies. If you would like to find out more about the types of cookies which may be downloaded as a result, please visit the website of the third-party provider to do so.
