Exciting news! The iCard 5.0 release is here!
As always, our mission is to give you more freedom in payments and we believe it is worth the effort!
So, here is what you can do more:
Make contactless payments with e-GiftCards
With the new iCard digital wallet update ALL e-GiftCards can be used at contactless POS terminals around the world where Mastercard is accepted – which is pretty much everywhere!
The money you sent or received as а gift will now be available not just for online shopping but offline as well, making the iCard e-GiftCards an irresistible present!
Let me answer the 2 most important questions for this new feature.
Do you need to do anything to activate it?
Not really. Next time you login, after you update iCard with the new 5.0 version, you will see a welcome screen notifying you about the change. You simply need to “continue” to the wallet and the process of updating your e-GiftCards will run in the background. You do need to have NFC-enabled Android phone. Sorry iOS fans but you’ll have to wait until Apple decides to include NFC virtual gift cards in their native and iOS exclusive NFC wallet solution.
You can check if your e-GiftCards are updated successfully when you tap on one to open it. If there is no red exclamation mark in the top right corner you are good to go! If there is a red mark, this could be due to a delayed response from Mastercard or some other technical issue or interruption. You should tap on the red mark to restart the process or reach out to the iCard customer support if the issue persist.
The process of sending e-GiftCards remains the same.
How do you pay with NFC-enabled e-GiftCards?
As simple as you are already used to pay with the Tap & Pay function of your iCard digital wallet.
There are 4 ways to start a contactless payment with your e-GiftCard:
1. Use the Tap & Pay button
All Mastercard e-GiftCards you have in your iCard wallet will be available in a cool new slider when you open Tap&Pay in iCard 5.0. You’d be able to set any Mastercard e-GiftCard you wish as a default NFC payment method from the card settings. When you do that it will appear embossed on your main wallet tab and will always be the first option to appear in the slider.
2. Use the Pay button on the card
3. Use the Tap&Pay shortcut
This option is only available for Android phones version 7.1 or higher.
4. Double tap to pay
With this option you first tap the device on top of the payment terminal to automatically activate Tap&Pay on your phone. You then choose the e-GiftCard you want from the slider.
