5 cases in which it is best to send a transfer to a card

Isabel Yordanova-Manolova 12 September, 2022

Are you looking for the easiest way to send money? Discover the speed and convenience of money transfers directly to Visa and Mastercard payment cards. They save you time and effort and shorten the distance between you and your loved ones. The money will be on their card in a matter of minutes. This way, they will have it immediately and enjoy the freedom to use it as they wish.

Why choose transfers to cards?

There are three transfer types in iCard: to iCard clients, bank transfers, and transfers to consumer cards.

You already use and like instant p2p transfers in your digital wallet, but not all your friends are iCard clients? You regularly send standard bank transfers, but most of them are not instant, and some recipients don’t even know their IBAN, and it takes forever for them to give it to you? No problem! We have the perfect solution for you – transfers to bank cards.

Now, the only requirement to send money is for the recipient to have a card with the Visa or Mastercard logo issued in the European Economic Area, regardless of whether it is debit, credit or prepaid (as long as it’s not a business card). This type of transfer has some undeniable advantages:

  • Easier
  • Faster
  • More secure
  • No hidden fees
  • 24/7

When to send a transfer to a card?

Here are the cases in which our clients most often prefer to send money transfers to cards:

1. Share the bill with a friend

The lovely summer evening is ending, and it’s time for you and your friends around the table to pay the bill before you go home. Time for math and complicated moves if you don’t have the exact amount in cash or if not everyone in the group uses the same digital wallet. Don’t worry – get the card with which your friend has just paid and send an instant transfer to it. You’ll be ready before you leave the restaurant.

2. You send money for a gift

What gift should we choose for Alex? Will she like it? How to pack the gift? When should we give it? There are so many questions to be solved by the “collective mind”. You don’t need to think about one more thing – how to send the amount for your share of the gift. Ease your life and send the money for Alex’s gift to a friend’s/colleague’s Visa or Mastercard card – one topic less in your head.

3. You help an older relative

Our fast-paced everyday life does not always allow us to help our older loved ones as much as we would like. Fast payments to cards are an excellent opportunity to make up for it, even if we are far away. Older people rarely use online banking or digital wallets, and you will torture the most if you ask them to tell you their bank details or just IBAN. For many pensioners, it is an adventure to go to the bank office or the counter to receive the quick transfers their children or grandchildren sent them. However, they are already used to using their bank cards – to pay with them in the store or to withdraw money from the closest ATM. What is more practical than sending money directly to your grandmother’s card to help her by reducing the burden of her expenses?

4. You often send money abroad

Each of us has relatives and friends who study, work and live abroad. Until recently, it was hard to stay connected to our loved ones when thousands of kilometres separated us. Fortunately, advances in communications have changed that. Now, we can talk and even see each other at any time of the day or night. Besides, we can send them money immediately, as long as they have a payment card. So, they enjoy the freedom to choose whether to spend on something they want or need, whether to shop online or in a physical store.

5. You rent a vacation home

Everyone is looking forward to their vacation spent at a dream place. Most often, attractive vacation homes with an authentic look covering our entire list of criteria are rented out by locals. Some local hosts don’t accept payments via Booking or Airbnb because of their high service fees. Instead of waiting a few days for confirmation that the host has received your prepayment sent via a bank transfer, you can easily send the amount directly to a Visa or Mastercard card issued in EEA. Payment to a card will save both of you time and trouble. Remember that you can send transfers to consumer cards, not business cards.

How to make a card-to-card transfer via the iCard app?

If all this appeals to you, try transferring money to cards via the mobile app. Follow a few simple steps:

1. Open the digital wallet, head to the “Send” menu, and select the “Card” tab.

2. Tap the “+” button, enter an amount, select a currency and from which account you want to send a transfer.

3. Fill in the card number, recipient’s name, country, and city. Check the details, and press the “Send” button.

Done! Your transfer is being processed and usually arrives within a few minutes. You can also save the card for future payments.

What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them, whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another. Cookies are generated by the server of the visited website when the browser of your device loads it. The website sends information to the browser and creates a text file. Each time the user returns to the same website, the browser extracts this text file and sends it to the website’s server. The information that the cookie contains is specified by the server and may be used by the latter when the website is visited again by the user.
We use cookies to achieve different tasks such as like letting you navigate between pages efficiently and easily, remembering your preferences and generally improving your experience when browsing. We also use them to ensure that any ads you see on our websites or mobile apps and ads of other third-parties are more focused to you and your interests.
We also use similar technologies such as ‘pixel tags’ and ‘JavaScript’ to undertake these tasks. Pixel tags and JavaScript are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has our websites or mobile apps. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within our websites or mobile apps to another, to provide or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to our websites or mobile apps from via online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance.
If you visit our websites or mobile apps, we will deploy cookies and similar technologies to design an online service more suitable for your device, as well as to prevent and detect fraud. When you visit our website from any device we collect information about your use of the particular website, such as information about the device or browser you use to access the site (including device type, operating system, screen resolution, etc.), the way you interact with this site, and the IP address your device connects from. In many cases, the above said technologies are relying on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning, which means that you may not be able to exercise some activities within our secure online services unless these cookies or similar technologies are installed. Additionally, there might be a chance that we may not be able to process certain transactions if you are physically located in certain countries.
Cookies set by us are referred to as "first party cookies". Cookies deployed by parties other than us are called "third-party cookies". Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be displayed on or through the website/app. The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.
We may not influence or control over third-party cookies. If you would like to find out more about the types of cookies which may be downloaded as a result, please visit the website of the third-party provider to do so.

Types of cookie inserted

These cookies allow us to provide you our service. The use of these cookies is based on the legal basis of providing you access to our website and therefore are always active

Statistical cookies/Third-party cookies

These cookies allow us to provide you our service better and are therefore based on our legitimate interests.

Functionality cookies
These cookies allow our website to remember choices you make and provide high level of personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you are allowed to customize.
