Any well-respected app should aim to provide the supreme user experience that people demand. For iCard this means many things – opening an account from your home, paying with your phone, getting a debit card delivered for free and sending instant payments or bank transfers, to just name a few.
And that’s not everything. Beyond building up an intuitive and rich digital wallet app, we saw an opportunity to connect some iCard services to the standard Android widgets. They are an important part of customizing and arranging how your app features remain as close as possible to your fingertips. Widgets exist as a mean to “shortcut” into the most-often-used functionality or at-a-glance data displayed. The weather forecast on your Android home screen, the clock and the google search bar are examples of widgets. Shortcuts into apps particular functions are also called widgets.
iCard has 4 widgets built-in – “Tap& Pay”, “Send Money”, “Send Bank Transfer” and “Add Money” – and an awesome “no-touch” shortcut that unlocks the app with mobile payments ready to tap and pay.
Let’s explore the iCard widgets.
How to get started with the widgets?
Tap and hold the iCard icon. This will pop-up a drop-down menu with a list of all available widgets:
Go ahead, give each one a try and see where it takes you. You may choose the widgets that would help you get the most out of iCard and set them ready on your home screen, but more on that later.
1. “Tap & Pay” widget
This widget lets you pay with your phone with no need to open the app first to select the function. This makes mobile payments even faster and easier than usual.
Before you can pay, select the “Tap & Pay” widget.
Identify yourself with a passcode or fingerprint and take your phone near the contactless POS terminal until you hear a beep.
Done. Your payment was successful and the money was taken from the available funds in your primary account.
2. “Add Money” widget
This is the quickest way to get to all possible means for funding your iCard wallet.
Tapping this widget shortcut will take you straight to the options for funding the iCard wallet, after unlocking the app with your passcode or fingerprint.
You will see the following way for account funding:

3. “Send Bank Transfer” widget
This is probably the fastest way to send a bank transfer.
Open the widget and verify your identity with a fingerprint or passcode. Then, simply start typing the IBAN of the receiver and follow the steps.
It is even faster when you do repeat bank transfers. If you already made your first outgoing bank transfer, you will see two sections – “Favourites” and “Recent transfers”. Simply tap the name and all the details will be pre-filled, ready to confirm.
4. “Send Money” widget
Need to send money right away? This widget is the quickest route to sending free and instant P2P transfers to other iCard users.
Again, if you had already sent an instant transfer at least once, you will have a “Favourites” section. The next section lists your phone contacts that have an iCard account. This indication let you select a name to immediately send a free and instant money transfer. It is also possible to send an instant transfer to any other phone number, contact or email address. They will be notified by SMS. Next, the recipient will have to open an account with iCard and verify their identity before the full app functionality is available with a Standard plan and the money is ready to spend.
Organizing widget shortcuts
Let’s take a step further and reduce the number of taps needed to get you to the most used iCard features.
Tap and hold the iCard icon to open the widgets menu. Next, tap and hold any of the 4 available actions. This will create a shortcut for it, right under your finger-tip. Now you can drag and place it anywhere on your android apps screen. It works like moving and placing any other icon.
Here is how it may look on your phone:
Now you have the most used money management functions of iCard ready to go.
BONUS TIP: Tap & Pay proximity unlocking
Let’s now see how you can make contactless mobile payments even faster.
Any contactless POS terminal, which is ready to accept a payment, can assist with opening the mobile payment screen straight away, without tapping any Android icons.
How to unlock Tap & Pay with no tapping?
Unlock your Android phone, which makes the iCard app “await” an NFC signal. Take it near the POS terminal. It will beep once to load iCard in Tap & Pay mode.
Verify yourself with your passcode or fingerprint. Take your phone once again near the POS terminal until you hear a beep once again and see a note “DONE” on the screen.
Take your receipt and rest assured your money remains protected.
