3D Secure wallet funding with stored card

Gabriela Anastasova 17 July, 2020
3D Secure iCard wallet funding

We have awesome news – funding your wallet for the first time is much faster, more secure and easier. We used to verify your stored cards by sending a verification code with a small 1.00 EUR transaction that you could find in your card’s statement or online banking. The problem that many users experienced was the amount of time it takes for this transaction to appear, even longer if you are awaiting a paper statement in the mail each month.

Now it’s different.

iCard users can say hello to 3D security for instant wallet funding and storing cards.

What is 3D security?

3D security (Mastercard SecureCode or Verified by VISA) is the extra verification step during some online payments. It aims to protect your card from being used maliciously if stolen.

3D security for iCard payment cards works with an additional confirmation, sent by SMS at the time you see the “Verified by VISA” or the “Mastercard SecureCode” screen. Entering the code when required, verifies your payment before you see the final confirmation screen.

How does the new funding work?

You always need to store a card prior to funding your iCard digital wallet. You could do it at the time of funding or prior to that. To protect you in the best possible way, each card funding will require 3D Secure verification.

Here are all the options for wallet funding, including a card:

The same goes for any other debit or credit card you use for funding your iCard wallet if your issuer has enabled the service.

What if I already stored and verified my debit cards?

No worries – all of them will remain verified and stored in your wallet. With that in mind, all your next card funding operations will simply need to be confirmed with the 3D Secure verification.

Be aware that if your card issuer does not support 3D Secure, you will need to go through the old process of receiving a confirmation code to your bank statement with the small 1.00 EUR transaction. Don’t worry this 1.00 EUR will be returned to your iCard account after the card is verified and stored.

This is just one of the many upcoming improvements we are getting ready to serve you.
